Be Active, Be Healthy, Be Happy

Be Active, Be Healthy, Be Happy Health and Fitness have become key words in today’s stress filled life. But do we have the time to indulge in fitness activities when we are overloaded with college assignments, exams and activities ? A healthy body is a barometer of a person’s mental state. Honestly, I am not a person who would take the effort of exercising on a regular basis. But I do believe in the old adage,’if health is lost, wealth is lost’. I am aware that I have to stay fit, both in body and mind. Personal instances have proved that exercising creates a very positive energy around one; it increases the alertness of the mind. One suddenly feels recharged and filled with positive motivation to achieve the target plan of the day. Just last month a friend of mine in the hostel started exercising in the morning. The result has been encouraging as doesn’t feel fatigued and feels fresh in class too. She is no more haunted by sleep monsters during lectures. She choose to exercis

Response of a student; Pleading for change

Response of a student; Pleading for change . What will your reaction be when your own daughter becomes the prey of molestation? How would you feel when one of your own family members becomes the object of sex trafficking? How aggressively would you stand to fight when you hear from someone that your daughter was beaten, raped and murdered? Won’t your heart seize to beat? Won’t your brain just freeze? This was the same situation with me when I was going through news headlines recently – “ An eight year old girl, Asifa  had been gang raped, strangled with her own scarf and bashed in the skull with a rock.” And not more than few days had passed to this incident , that another headline reported-“ Another 8-year old girl raped and killed”. My follicles stood tall , there ran deep terror inside and the tears dropped without even a pause. Are we progressing toward a period where humanity will seize to exist and a new world of crime and punishment be the foundation of constitution? The
MILES AWAY IS MY NEW HOME Even after hours of determined persuasion, a mammoth of pleadings and a number of summonses in front of parents in order to explain them how eagerly you want to go to a college outside your city and want to live in a hostel which is equally important  in terms of an individual’s mental growth and development and it is also important to experience the independence provided to you by using it towards your growth, there comes a time in the lives of most of the first year students who after staying for a month or two in the hostel might get surrounded by a totally different set of feelings.  They might feel home-sick and overburdened by the sudden pressure of a number of jobs such as washing clothes, cleaning the utensils, the room etc. along with the studies. Incompletion of which might lead to a feeling of lack of ability in them to move forward with their lives.  Going away from parents for the first time to a hostel at the age of 16 or 17 is a period of t

Dubai to Bangalore. What Where and How.

FROM Dubai TO Bangalore; how can one adjust to the demands of the new environment Moving from Dubai to Bangalore was one of the biggest changes in my life. The sights and smell were in a contrast to what I had always been exposed to. Smoke grazed the high raised buildings and people swarmed the streets. I moved into a pretty comfortable student accommodation, “my roomie” which helped me adjust to the city. When Bangalore was portrayed in movies all I could see was the partying and the roaming around with friends. Being a Chrisite I wasn’t that lucky. The only fee day I had: Sunday would flee away in my slumber. It wasn’t only the time constraint’s I had to get used to; as fate would have it, Christ had a dress code! No jeans, no uncollared shirts, only salwar and kurthi no leggings, always have a dupatta. As these rules swarmed over my head, I realized how much I missed home, the freedom to wear exactly what I want: my crop tops and jeans. I got super home sick. I would call
