What are the common difficulties that North Indians have to face in hostels in Bangalore?

India is known to be a culturally diverse country whose core is dominated by language and festivities. Each time you travel to a new place - the new cultures, traditions, food, and lifestyle may amaze you for a time being.
But once you decide to completely shift to a new state that has a completely different culture, that's when you may start dealing with challenges.
Bangalore has become a popular destination in the nation for students and working individuals. Apart from finding a hostel in Bangalore to reside, North Indians face many other problems including

  • The locals may not be kind enough toward them in the Hostels in Bangalore
One of the biggest problems that North Indians face is that the locals may not be kind enough. This is simply because locals do not like North Indians migrating and staying in hostels for students in Bangalore.
They believe that the North Indians are responsible for the endless traffic on the streets, the rise in expenses, and the increase in the crowding in the city.
The local hostel guys dislike the way north Indians dress up and lead their lifestyle, and often get involved in heated arguments.
  • Language Barrier - A Major issue of Bangalore hostels
Language can be another issue that can further lead to cultural shock for many individuals moving to a new place.
When choosing to stay in hostels in Bangalore for students, it may be difficult for the North Indians to interact with the other roommates.
While the same situation may occur in offices, colleges, and even in the streets. At times, the North Indians may find themselves being neglected by others which could be disheartening.
  • Food of the hostels in Bangalore

Just like the language changes every five kilometers in India, so do the lifestyle and food habits.
North Indians migrating to the south may find it very uncomfortable to adjust their taste buds. The hostels in Bangalore might stick to the regular South Indian menu which the North people may not be grateful for.
Though there are restaurants available of all types, choosing to purchase food from outside can be unbearable on the monthly expenses.

  • Cultural difference- A very common issue in Bangalore PGs
Here comes another difficulty that any North Indian might face when choosing to stay in hostels for students in Bangalore.
To be precise, the culture includes art, music, rituals, cooking styles, clothing, religion, rituals, festivals, and so on. As a North Indian, one might wait to celebrate Diwali, Holi, Lohri, Dussehra, and others.
While the hostels in Bangalore have a majority of individuals who would not prefer to be a part of these festivals. Instead they may choose to celebrate Onam, Ugadi, Karaga, Pongal and so on.
  • Budget- The city is really costly!
A very common problem that you may face as a North Indian while relocating to any Hostel in Bangalore is the Budget.
Bangalore being an expensive city requires one to have an endless amount of cash flow to survive without any hassle. So if you are choosing to shift to this city, make sure that you have your finances planned to hold on to.

Response of a student; Pleading for change

Response of a student; Pleading for change . What will your reaction be when your own daughter becomes the prey of molestation? How would you feel when one of your own family members becomes the object of sex trafficking? How aggressively would you stand to fight when you hear from someone that your daughter was beaten, raped and murdered? Won’t your heart seize to beat? Won’t your brain just freeze? This was the same situation with me when I was going through news headlines recently – “ An eight year old girl, Asifa  had been gang raped, strangled with her own scarf and bashed in the skull with a rock.” And not more than few days had passed to this incident , that another headline reported-“ Another 8-year old girl raped and killed”. My follicles stood tall , there ran deep terror inside and the tears dropped without even a pause. Are we progressing toward a period where humanity will seize to exist and a new world of crime and punishment be the foundation of constitution? ...

Be Active, Be Healthy, Be Happy

Be Active, Be Healthy, Be Happy Health and Fitness have become key words in today’s stress filled life. But do we have the time to indulge in fitness activities when we are overloaded with college assignments, exams and activities ? A healthy body is a barometer of a person’s mental state. Honestly, I am not a person who would take the effort of exercising on a regular basis. But I do believe in the old adage,’if health is lost, wealth is lost’. I am aware that I have to stay fit, both in body and mind. Personal instances have proved that exercising creates a very positive energy around one; it increases the alertness of the mind. One suddenly feels recharged and filled with positive motivation to achieve the target plan of the day. Just last month a friend of mine in the hostel started exercising in the morning. The result has been encouraging as doesn’t feel fatigued and feels fresh in class too. She is no more haunted by sleep monsters during lectures. She choose to exercis...
